Adrienne M. Ward


Adrienne M. Ward, a member of the Firm, focuses her practice on the representation of public companies and financial institutions, including broker-dealers, investment advisors, private funds and insurance companies, and their employees in civil litigation, internal investigations and regulatory enforcement matters. Ms. Ward's litigation practice includes representing parties in securities class actions and other claims brought under the securities laws, business disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, derivative claims, defense of claims brought by securities investors in state and federal court and in arbitration proceedings. She also represents business entities outside the securities industry in general commercial litigation matters.

Her regulatory experience includes representing clients before the SEC, FINRA, NYSE, NY Attorney General and other state regulators in investigations and disciplinary proceedings. Ms. Ward recently defended clients in matters involving fee-based brokerage accounts, market timing, the research analyst rules, equity trading practices, supervision of sales practices and a variety of registration, accounting and other reporting requirements. In addition, Ms. Ward provides counsel regarding compliance with securities laws, rules and regulations and on the regulatory examination process.

Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Ward was a partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP and before that was associated with Gordon Altman Butowsky Weitzen Shalov & Wein LLP and Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP. Her background includes a wide variety of commercial civil litigation as well as white collar criminal defense work. Ms. Ward is admitted to practice in New York and in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York and the Eastern District of Wisconsin. She is the Chair of the Administrative Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and a member of SIFMA's Legal and Compliance Division and the Woman Advocate Committee of the ABA's Litigation Section.

Ms. Ward was recently selected as a New York Super Lawyer in 2010.  Super Lawyers is a listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. 

Ms. Ward earned her J.D. in 1994 from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a James Kent Scholar and received the Susan Price Carr Scholarship. She also served as an articles editor of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law, and as a Helena Rubenstein Foundation Fellow at the National Organization of Women, Legal Defense Fund. Ms. Ward received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985.
