Netanel Newberger is a member in the Labor & Employment practice group. Mr. Newberger’s practice consists of representing unionized and non-unionized employers in a diverse field of labor and employment matters. He has over twenty years of experience in both traditional labor law and employment counseling and litigation. Mr. Newberger began his career in traditional labor law, representing unions and employees in grievances and arbitrations and in litigation in federal and state court. He then began to solely represent employers and management in disputes in federal and state court, including discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation and wage and hour claims. Mr. Newberger also provides counseling on day to day issues, including employee hiring, discipline and termination, paid and unpaid leaves of absence and drafting employee handbooks, hiring and severance agreements.
Mr. Newberger has experience with negotiating collective bargaining agreements and responding to unfair labor practice charges at the National Labor Relations Board. He has successfully represented companies at administrative hearings, including at the New York State Division of Human Rights, the New York State Department of Labor and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. Mr. Newberger has argued appeals before the New York State Appellate Division, First and Second Departments and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He has also led numerous mediations and settlement conferences.
Mr. Newberger is a graduate of Yeshiva University (1998), magna cum laude, and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (2002). He is admitted to practice before the courts of the States of New York and New Jersey, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.
