The Firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Law Group is focused on the trial or resolution of disputes involving intellectual property. The group also secures clients’ rights with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Copyright Office, and intellectual property offices around the world. When licensing is appropriate, we handle all types of licenses. Further, the group assists in evaluating intellectual property in the context of complex transactions. Our practitioners cover the gamut of intellectual property rights, including: domestic and international patents; copyrights; trade secrets, trademarks and trade dress; and rights of publicity and privacy (including NIL rights); as well as all aspects of e-commerce and artificial intelligence.

IP Litigation

Firm lawyers have collectively tried or resolved cases in federal and state courts around the country, as well as in various institutional and ad hoc arbitrations, including WIPO, AAA, JAMS, and the various domain name dispute resolution venues round the world. IP Prosecution

The Firm has vast experience in securing the value of the intellectual property created and acquired by our clients in the United States and around the world, drafting and prosecuting patent, trademark, and copyright applications, and instructing foreign counsel. Further, our team is fluent in not only securing these rights, but also identifying intellectual property assets our clients may overlook or otherwise may not be aware can be protected. We work hand and hand with our clients to ensure their Intellectual Property portfolios are as comprehensive as possible.

IP Transactional

In addition to our contentious and procurement work, our clients routinely rely on our Intellectual Property Practice Group for a broad range of non-contentious intellectual property needs, including: drafting and negotiating licenses, work for hire, software, sale agreements, collaboration agreements, and non-disclosure agreements; technology and patent landscaping; trade secret identification and protection plans; and various other types of agreements involving intellectual property.

We also assist our clients in evaluating intellectual property assets that they are acquiring or selling. Our team is skilled at identifying and assessing potential liabilities in any transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and asset-based financing. Integral to the firm’s financing activities in our M&A and Capital Markets practices, our intellectual property lawyers conduct due diligence reviews of the intellectual property portfolios of such clients or acquisition targets. When our team identifies a potential obstacle during these processes, we work closely with the parties to find a solution.
